Our School

An old brick buildingColusa Alternative Home School was founded in 1995 by Dr. Jim Mark who was the Colusa Unified School District superintendent at that time. He saw an opportunity to expand our district's reach by establishing a school designed specifically for families who wanted a homeschooling option.

In 2003, former Superintendent Larry Yeghoian took over the administration of Colusa Alternative Home School and moved the center to our current location at 745 Tenth Street. Colusa Alternative Home School has grown steadily since that time. In 2014, Superintendent Dwayne Newman expanded our site by adding classrooms.

Currently, Colusa Alternative Home School staffs three full-time credentialed teachers. Each teacher has a classroom for meeting with students and families. Classrooms also contain curriculum resources, a student computer lab, and a study area for students. If you are interested in learning more about our program, contact Principal Rebecca Changus.

Students and families requesting an educational opportunity at Colusa Alternative Home School meet with administration as well as a Colusa Alternative Home School representative to hear the needs of the student and family.
